performance
natya dance collective is an ensemble of dancers with extensive training and performance experience focused on bringing meaningful and invigorating performances to our many communities. Directed by Dr. Smitha Radhakrishnan, our current repertoire of dances are focused on collective healing, the environment, and the interconnectedness of all life forces. We also have many traditional Bharatanatyam pieces in our repertoire that we have choreographed and arranged for ensemble performance. We are available to perform as an ensemble for your personal, corporate and community events. natya aims to bring joy and authenticity to every audience.
Our primary dance form in Bharatanatyam, which collective members have studied for a minimum of two decades. We have an extensive repertoire of contemporary and traditional dances that we perform as an ensemble. Many of our pieces feature English narrative, poetry, contemporary music, and contemporary themes. While our core dance form is Bharatanatyam, the members of our collective bring experiences in Indian contemporary and folk forms, other classical forms such as Mohini Attam and Kuchipudi, and experience with yoga and martial arts.
Since 2018, we have performed at libraries, schools, corporate events and local arts festivals, including the Cambridge River Festival, the Fort Point Theater Festival, Dance for World Community, Mayfair Festival, Dragonfly Festival, and more. We have been been privileged to perform at venues such as the Boston Children’s Museum, the Peabody Essex Museum, and the Dance Complex. Follow us on Instagram @natyadance or on LinkedIn.
